Nobody 'Bod' Owens (Introduced Chapter 1)
Nobody Owns also known as 'Bod' throughout the book is the main character. He grows up and lives most of his life in the graveyard. He learns the ways of the dead and goes through many different adventures throughout his lifetime.

The Man Jack (Introduced Chapter 1)
The Man Jack is the man who killed Bod's family and tried to kill Bod but
failed. He is from a group called 'The Jack of All Trades'. He is the Arch
Villain of this book.

Silas (Introduced Chapter 1)
Silas is not dead nor alive he is just simply Silas, the guardian of Nobody Owens and is also responsible for the food and water of Bod as Silas can leave the graveyard. Silas helps Bod throughout his time at the graveyard, such as; the ways of the graveyard and also literacy (reading, writing, etc.). The book strongly implies he is a vampire but does not state it directly.

The lady On The Grey (Introduced Chapter 1)
A mysterious character in the book indeed. A lady on a horse, a grey horse. The Lady on the Grey appears in the book in the first chapter. When three hundred residents of the graveyard are arguing whether to keep bod or not The Lady on the Grey decides all with "The dead should have charity". She appears for the second time in the book in chapter 5 "Danse Macabre"

Mr & Mrs Owens (Introduced Chapter 1)
Mr & Mrs Owens are 2 Ghosts from the graveyard. They are assigned the role of the little boy's parents, later on giving him the name Nobody Owens.

Scarlett (Introduced Chapter 2)
Scarlett is a 6 year old girl who is alive and human but has the ability that no other human has, and that ability is being able to see Bod as no other human can because he was given the freedom of the graveyard. She helps bod with his reading until she moves to Scotland. Bod and Scarlett do re-unite later on in the book.

The Indigo Man (Introduced Chapter 2)
The Indigo Man isn't actually real. He is just an image projected by the Sleer to scare off the greedy people searching for the treasure. He is a huge guy with purple (indigo) tattoos all over his face. The Indigo Man only seems to appear when there is extreme fear in the air which is why he disappeared when Bod and Scarlett realise he is just a projection.

Miss Lupescu (Introduced Chapter 3)
Miss Lupescu is a teacher that takes care of bod while Silas goes away on his long trips out of the graveyard. Miss Lupescu and Bod don't have the best relationship at first but the further in the book you reach the closer they become.

Liza Hempstock (Introduced Chapter 4)
Liza Hempstock is a witch that is buried just outside the graveyard in Potter's Field. The reason for Liza not being buried inside of the graveyard is because she was accused of being a witch, and was burnt to death, 500 years back. Liza later has a crush on Bod the Bod does not notice but the audience does.
